The Bunker; your private, self-contained stay

Don’t expect the Ritz but if your looking for tidy, functional accommodation, a fantastic location at an affordable price then look no further! Welcome to the Bunker! Perfectly situated for relaxation or a work commute to Wellington or the Hutt. Once a pottery our rustic fully equipped standalone "Bunker" has been a small studio/bedsit for some years. The private fully fenced courtyard is yours to use; ideal to sit and unwind with a wine after a hard day! Enjoy your independent stay!

The space

Located in the heart of historic Petone the Bunker is placed on the widest street in the suburb with ample free street parking. A three minute walk Southward places you on the Esplanade and Petone beach with its wonderful Wellington harbour vista and Settlers Museum. To the North a two minute walk positions you at the extremely popular artesian fountain with its free potable water. Around the corner from the fountain is historic Jackson Street containing numerous café’s, restaurants’ and boutique shops. Cross Jackson Street and the Wellington Institute of Technology (Weltec) plus the celebrated Petone Rugby and Workingman’s Clubs are only a short walk away. If you fancy a jog or stroll the much loved Petone Recreation Ground is on the way! Public Transport in the form of regular buses to Wellington and the Hutt can be caught on Jackson Street. The Wellington electric commuter train service stops at Petone Station at the western end of Jackson Street.
Suitable for a discerning single or couple the Bunker is decorated with some beautiful original art by local artist Helen Bland and has everything you need; the living area is equipped with Wi-Fi, a double bed with electric blanket, thermostatically controlled heating, small couch, kitchen bar/workspace, TV, luggage rack and drawers. The kitchenette is fitted with an air fryer , microwave, twin hobs, sink bench, fridge, electric jug, coffee machine, toaster, sandwich maker, utensils and a front loading washing machine. The compact shower room includes a heater, RCD (safety) power outlet and hair dryer. For your safety a first aid kit, smoke detector and fire extinguisher are fitted within your living space. The courtyard is equipped with a gas BBQ for your use.
The Bunker is situated at the rear of our property with clearly marked independent access behind our busy family home. Your Hosts Stephen and Roxanne expect self-check-in but are happy to help with any questions about your stay or the local area and attractions. We are pet owners so please be aware that Jess, Bermuda and Missy (Huntaway, Staffordshire and Fox Terrier) will most likely give you a rousing welcome from the other side of the fence on your arrival but Sammy the cat will not be held back by any fence! We welcome guests with a small dog and will provide clean bedding. We do ask that you do not allow your pet in or on the bed and please do pick up in the courtyard after them. There is no additional charge for pets. Smoking or vaping is not allowed in the Bunker but feel free to do so in your courtyard. PLEASE NOTE due to it’s small size (think tiny house) the Bunker is available for short term (up to 21 days) stays only. We are regularly asked but will not approve long term accomodation requests.
